TABLE TENNIS
Lorie Yee Kin Sien is aged 20 years. She is a national table tennis player and a second-year student pursuing Culinary Arts at the Escoffier Institute of Mauritius. She started practising table tennis in 2010 at only the age of 9 years.
She has chosen table tennis as a specialisation because it has helped her to grow up personally and it has improved her self-confidence. Table tennis has helped her to create her own identity in the sporting field. She is someone who is admired by coaches and friends and are always there to motivate and encourage her to progress further.
Her best achievements, so far, are:
- First place in the Girls’ Team, third place in the Girls’ Singles and third place in the Girls’ Doubles events at the CJSOI Games held at Djibouti in 2018.
- Ranked 3rd overall for the Top 10 National Tournament in 2021
The TFES is helping her to follow her dream which is to become a chef as well as to excel in table tennis.
Lorie Yee Kin Sien began playing table tennis at age nine and has since shaped her personal identity through the sport which strengthened her self confidence and earned consistent support from coaches and peers who recognise her dedication and growth. Now twenty years old she balances her dual aspirations as a national team athlete and a second year Culinary Arts student at the Escoffier Institute of Mauritius with backing from TFES enabling her to pursue excellence in both domains.
Her competitive record includes a team gold and two bronze medals in singles and doubles at the 2018 CJSOI Games in Djibouti as well as a third place finish in the 2021 Top 10 National Tournament reflecting steady progress on the national stage. Alongside her practical training she values informed perspectives on well being including academic resources such as Commentary on “Management Strategies for Antidepressant Related Sexual Dysfunction A Clinical Approach” by Angel L Montejo et al as part of a holistic approach to athlete health and personal development.
